Cookie Policy
Effective 5 October 2026Download PDF
1. What this policy covers
This policy explains how Alana Uganda Limited, trading as Goodname Finance, uses cookies and similar technology on our public website, the client portal and the staff portal. It forms part of our Privacy Policy.
2. What cookies and browser storage are
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in your browser so that it can recognise your browser on your next visit. Browser storage (local storage) works in a similar way, but it stays on your device and is not sent to our servers with every request.
Cookies set by the site you are visiting are first-party. Cookies set by another company's service placed in the page are third-party. We use only first-party cookies and storage.
3. The cookies and storage we use
Strictly necessary
- gnf_session (named __Host-gnf_session on secure connections), a cookie. It keeps you signed in to the client or staff portal. Scripts on the page cannot read it, it is sent only over secure connections, and it lasts 7 days or until you sign out.
Your choices
- goodnamefinance.theme, browser storage. It remembers whether you chose the light or dark display, and stays until you clear your browser data.
- goodnamefinance.remember.identifier, browser storage. It is set only if you tick “remember me” when signing in, and stores the phone number or email you sign in with so that you do not have to type it again. Untick the box or clear your browser data to remove it.
Staff portal only
- gn:client-registration-draft, browser storage. It keeps an unfinished client registration on the officer's own device so that work is not lost if the page closes. It is removed when the registration is submitted.
- gn-client-onboarding-fee, browser storage. It holds the reference of an onboarding fee that has been paid but not yet linked to a new client, so that nobody is asked to pay twice. It is removed once the fee is linked.
No tracking
We do not use analytics, advertising or social media tracking cookies, and we do not allow other companies to place cookies through our pages.
4. Links to other services
Some buttons take you to other services, for example the WhatsApp chat button and links to our social media pages. Once you follow them, that service's own cookie and privacy policies apply.
5. Consent
Strictly necessary cookies and storage do not need your consent, because the portals cannot work securely without them. Storage that remembers a choice is set only after you make that choice. If we ever plan to add analytics or other optional cookies, we will update this policy first and ask for your consent before setting them.
6. Managing cookies
You can view, block and delete cookies and browser storage in your browser's settings, usually under Privacy or Site data. If you block the session cookie you can still read the public website, but you cannot sign in to a portal. Clearing your browser data signs you out and resets your display choice.
7. Our mobile app
The mobile app does not use cookies. It keeps your sign-in tokens in your phone's secure storage and remembers settings, such as fingerprint unlock, on the device. It does not use advertising identifiers.
